If that was indeed the last we will see of Tim Wakefield, what a way for Terry Francona to thank him for his 15 years of service in Boston.

Turns out, it wouldn’t have mattered had Wakefield had the ’03 Boston lineup supporting him last night. There would be no historic, “For Love of the Game” sendoff for the knuckleballer, who allowed five runs over just three innings of work. That's probably it for the season.

That might be it for the career.
