Schmitt's office received more than 1,700 e-mails, not all of them tasteful. One e-mailer suggested a 21-gun salute with live ammo. Another talked about pelting Favre with objects. More than a few pelted him with profanity.

"We have a street named Brett Favre Pass," Schmitt said. "Some people said, 'Take the 'P' off 'Pass.' "

Somebody already has taken care of that. The P on both sides of the Brett Favre Pass street sign was covered with an obscene sticker Thursday.
