What if they put on a hockey game and nobody came?

No, it's not that bad yet. And yes, the people who remember Rockie hockey could tell you what happens when it gets that bad.

But still, the Avalanche is facing what seems like a contradictory confluence of events. After finishing last season as the worst team in the NHL's Western Conference, the Avs surprised most everyone in the hockey world by sprinting to the top of the standings this season.
