There are only four of them, really, and so when one of America's projected Olympic superstars enters the room he necessarily draws the eyes and the questions.

It has been this way for Apolo Anton Ohno since the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City, where the agile son of a Seattle hairdresser - he still sports a perfect coif - won a gold and silver medal in a sport, short-track speed skating, that never fails to produce absurdly tight and controversial finishes.
