It could be argued that the events of Friday night were no way to go out for America's most decorated Winter Olympian.

Then again, it was short track speedskating, where there is no dignity. It would be more shocking to find steroid use in curling than to discover some sporting sensibility in short track.

After benefiting in two earlier heats from opponent crack-ups, Apolo Ohno lost his first chance to add to his record medal count when he was caught interfering and disqualified in the men's 500-meter finals, where he was defending Olympic champion.
