In some respects tonight’s NCAA Frozen Four championship game between Boston College and Wisconsin at Ford Field features a mutual admiration society between Eagles coach Jerry York and Badgers counterpart Mike Eaves.
“I’m still mad at Michael for not coming to Clarkson,” said York about an earlier coaching stop. “I was at Clarkson in the ’70s and he was a high-scoring forward in the (Windsor) Ontario area and we recruited him pretty hard. He went to Wisconsin.
“It softened a little bit when I got the chance to coach (Eaves’ sons) Ben and Patrick at BC. They were such great players for our team. . . . So, I have more appreciation for Mike now than I did back in the ’70s.”
