Chase Has Drama with Three in the Mix

The seventh edition of the Chase for the Sprint Cup finally might bring the Game 7 that Brian France seeks without any tweaking after all.

The NASCAR chairman has been considering changes for months to his 10-race title run that was designed as counterprogramming to the NFL season but often hasn't delivered the desired drama. Though the title race always has been determined in the finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, recent seasons virtually were foregone conclusions as Jimmie Johnson marched to four consecutive championships with increasing ease.

Sunday's Ford 400 (ESPN, 1:15 p.m.), though, promises to be a showdown featuring the "impact moments" of other sports' playoffs that had France floating the concept of elimination rounds and points resets as potential Chase...
