Boise State’s June joy has been replaced with November sorrow. And this has nothing to do with the Broncos’ presumed WAC victory lap running into a Reno roadblock.
The ransacking of the Broncos’ future conference continued Monday as TCU accepted an all-sports invitation to the Big East Conference, becoming the last of the Mountain West’s formidable football trio to bolt since Boise State earned its long-awaited invitation.
The Horned Frogs, a nemesis to the Broncos on the field and in the polls in recent years, followed Utah (to the Pac-12) and BYU (to football independence) out the door. As if taking the Broncos’ coveted spot in the Rose Bowl (and, perhaps, national championship game) wasn’t enough, TCU’s departure cosigned Boise State to the WAC 2.0.
