There never has been a news conference quite like this in Rays' history, and I say that having covered a bunch of them.
The official introduction of Johnny Damon and Manny Ramirez as the latest members of the local baseball team was a cross between a pep rally and a night at a comedy club. The stars of the show were flinging one-liners, drawing laughs from onlookers, and not one bit of it seemed forced.
"You're not gonna get no fake," Ramirez announced.
I don't think anyone is too concerned about that. Manny doesn't do fake.
