LeBron's Redemption Falls Short

There comes a time in almost any athlete's life when he needs to clean up a monumental mess of his own making.

Such was the situation for LeBron James on a volatile Thursday night inside American Airlines Center in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

And he couldn't pull it off.

"I understand what's at stake," James said hours before the game. "It's probably the biggest game of my life. Not probably, is."

It might not have been hyperbole.

He was burdened when teammate and fellow star Dwyane Wade was limited by a left hip contusion suffered in the first quarter. Wade's long absences pushed massive responsibilities onto James, who did benefit from more frequently being the focal point of the offense.
