Down to their last strike and facing a two-run deficit, the A's gave new manager Bob Melvin a memorable first win Friday. Scott Sizemore cleared the bases with a two-out, three-run double to highlight a four-run ninth as the A's beat the Chicago White Sox 7-5 to snap a 10-game losing streak that was their longest since 2008. There were two outs when Hideki Matsui singled to center off Sergio Santos to score Josh Willingham and cut the deficit to 5-4. Daric Barton walked and Santos then hit Kurt Suzuki with a 2-2 pitch to load the bases. Sizemore, a part-time third baseman obtained recently in a trade from Detroit, drove a 1-0 pitch to the gap in left-center to score three runs.
