Round tables filled a courtyard of the Fox television studio lots on Tuesday. They were covered with black linen cloth and had brilliant white umbrellas over them. White chairs were tucked beneath the tables, and across the way, a winding buffet line.
There were photographers, and red velvet ropes marking the entrance. Someone put name cards on 12 of those beautiful tables, reserving one for each of the Pacific-12 Conference's coaches on the conference's annual media day.
Gorgeous. Elegant. Pristine.
All that was missing was the wedding cake.
But over it all, hung something ugly.
This whole Willie Lyles thing.
