Frank Gore reported to 49ers headquarters early Monday morning, ending a training camp holdout. A team official confirmed that the running back was in the building and prepared for a day of meetings and a physical.

So ends a brief absence for the two-time Pro Bowler, who was a no-show last weeks in hopes of landing a contract extension. No new deal has been reached, but the 49ers are willing to continue discussions.

Gore, 28, has led the team in rushing in each of the past six seasons. In team history, Gore ranks third in both rushing yards (6,414) and yards per carry (4.7).

He is in the final year of a contract that will pay him $2.9 million in base salary and a $2 million roster bonus. Gore will be coming back from a season-ending hairline fracture in his right hip sustained last Nov. 29.
