So Arizona acquired Jason Marquis from Washington largely because he owned the Giants and blanked them in April. Someone forgot to text the news to Jeff Keppinger, Carlos Beltran and Orlando Cabrera, who were playing for Houston, the New York Mets and Cleveland that night.

With the three newcomers taking some ferocious licks, the Giants slew the Giants-slayer Wednesday, ending their five-game losing streak with an 8-1 drubbing that put a sword through Marquis' reputation.

They pounded the sinkerballer for eight runs in four-plus innings.
