Most players appreciate Bruce Bochy as a manager because, no matter how sternly he criticizes his players face to face, he rarely rips them in public. He pulls so many punches, his rotator cuff must be ready to snap.
After Saturday night's 3-0 loss to the Dodgers, a rote retelling of the same dulling tale, Bochy did not hold back.
"We're bad right now with the bats. We're awful," he said. "We're getting the right guys up there and not getting it done."
