Marlins Blank Slumping Braves

Javier Vazquez has not formally announced this will be his last season pitching in the majors.

If it is, Vazquez is going out in style.

Vazquez’s remarkable turnaround this season continued Wednesday night as he pitched seven shutout innings to help the Marlins beat the Braves 4-0, and take two of three games against the National League wild-card leaders.

Vazquez pitched seven innings, gave up only two hits, struck out six, and walked one batter as he picked up his team-high 12th win.

Vazquez also extended his streak of scoreless innings to 25, which broke the club record previously set by Pat Rapp in September of 1995 when he pitched 24 2/3 scoreless innings in a row.
