Angels Fall to Blue Jays in 12th

Edwin Encarnacion’s solo home run leading off the 12th inning sent the Angels to a 4-3 defeat in Toronto Thursday night.

While the walkoff home run ended the Blue Jays’ home schedule on a high note, it struck a big blow to the Angels’ playoff hopes. The Rangers also lost Thursday so the Angels remain five games out in the division but their ‘tragic’ number for elimination from that race dropped to two with six games to play.

Meanwhile in the wild-card race, the Angels wasted a chance to gain ground on the idle Red Sox. Instead, they dropped three games out in teh wild-card race and the Rays moved ahead of them, two games behind the Red Sox.
