Marian Hossa needed some time to gather himself after simultaneously mourning the loss of one of his closest friends and celebrating the birth of his daughter.

The Hawks winger had experienced the lowest of lows with the tragic death of friend Pavol Demitra followed two days later by the highest of highs when his daughter Mia was born.

Hossa joined his Hawks teammates on the ice Wednesday after missing the first five days of training camp.
