The Rangers have set only one piece of their rotation for the American League Championship Series: left-hander C.J. Wilson in the opener for the second consecutive year.
Manager Ron Washington said Wednesday that the club will wait for the resolution of the Detroit-New York Yankees division series before setting the remainder of the rotation. Washington indicated he will follow his opening-round plan and use right-hander Colby Lewis on the road.
The unflappable Lewis can handle challenging road venues, Washington said. In addition, Lewis performed much better on the road than at home this season. Lewis was 9-5 with a 3.43 ERA on the road and 5-5 with a 5.54 ERA and 22 homers allowed in 922/3 innings at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington during the regular season. He gave up one run in six innings at Tampa Bay to win Game 3 of the division series.
