The best teams don't always win championships.
They burrow in your heart and fill you with joy. They make you feel good about the name on the front of their jersey. They make you believe anything is possible if you try hard enough, if you fight long enough.
That's the legacy of the 2011 Diamondbacks.
"We've come a long way," manager Kirk Gibson said.
Regrets? Not a chance. After a 3-2, 10-inning loss Friday to the Milwaukee Brewers, the clubhouse was suffocating with disappointment. It's almost absurd to contrast their expectations entering Game 5 with our expectations entering the season.
But that's how close this group became over the course of time. Their conviction had grown so strong that it seemed impossible that the season could end in defeat.
