Barring a sudden attack of geographical awareness, Boise State is going to join the Big East.
So much for solving the biggest mystery of the modern college football era.
Are the Broncos worthy of a title shot?
They’ve always claimed to be. And they have the unbeaten seasons to prove it.
The hitch, of course, is that most of those wins came against schools that don’t have weight rooms.
And now they’re joining the Big East?
I’m pretty sure Central Florida has a weight room. I’m just not sure any of the players know where it is.
Despite that, the Big East has invited UCF and five other schools on board. Boise State is by far the plum of the group.
It has been America’s football sweetheart since beating Oklahoma in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl. People love the blue turf and hate the BCS for continually shafting the Broncos out of its championship game.
What we don’t know is whether Boise State has ever truly deserved a bid. Sure, it can hang with anyone for one game. Just ask Georgia, Virginia Tech and Oregon.
But could it hang tough week-in and week-out?
