The Giants finished 10-6 last year but did not make the playoffs, becoming the first team since 1991 to win 10 games in the NFC and not qualify for the post-season. Co-owner John Mara, standing in the visitors’ locker room at FedEx Field after the Giants beat the Redskins but lost the chance to play the following week, stated what already seemed obvious: Tom Coughlin would return.
“I believe in the guy. I believe in stability,’’ Mara said at the time. “You can’t build anything if you’re constantly making changes and firing people.’’
The Giants this year are 6-6, can finish 9-7 and not only make it into the playoffs but actually win the NFC East and claim the home-game playoff...
