Revamped Pebble Beach Snags Tiger

Geoff Ogilvy showed up last year. Zach Johnson signed up to play this year. Both players are major champions and recognizable names in the golf galaxy, but neither will inspire mainstream sports fans to drive to the Monterey Peninsula or watch golf on television in February.

Tiger Woods is another story.

Woods made it official Monday: He's returning to the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am next month. This will be his first appearance in the AT&T in 10 years, and his decision vividly illustrates why tournament officials reshaped their event in June 2009.
