Win vs. Celts Lifts Mavs' Confidence

With a 149-day lockout, a two-week training camp and just two preseason games, there isn’t a team in the NBA that is looking at this year as a normal one. But probably no team has had to deal with more weirdness in the compressed offseason than the defending champion Dallas Mavericks.

They lost defensive coach Dwane Casey to the Raptors last summer, then lost all four of their major available players—defensive anchor Tyson Chandler, guards DeShawn Stevenson and J.J. Barea and small forward Caron Butler—during the brief December free-agent period.
