Syracuse Improves to 20-0

This year’s Orange surpassed the previous record of 19 straight wins to open a season set in the 1999-2000 campaign.

But while the Orange countdown to the record had been underway for the past few weeks, the Syracuse coaches and players were focused on a larger goal.

“People have been talking about it for a few games now,’’ Syracuse senior forward Kris Joseph said. “We want to continue winning, but that’s all we’ve been trying to do is win basketball games. We weren’t focused on the fact that we were on our way to making school history. We just wanted to win basketball games and we did that.’’

Syracuse is now 20-0 overall and 7-0 in the Big East. Syracuse has won 20 games for the 34th time in Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim’s 36-year tenure, which is an NCAA record.
