It's not a mystery why Rivaldo, FIFA's 1999 World Player of the Year, is still playing soccer a few months shy of his 40th birthday. As long as you love the game—and your body allows you to do so—you'll keep going. And Rivaldo was good enough to play 37 times last season for Sao Paulo, one of Brazil's biggest clubs.
But it is a mystery why you would choose, as Rivaldo did Friday, to spend the twilight of your career in Angola.
The former Barcelona standout signed a one-year contract with Kabuscorp, a club based in Luanda, the capital city. It's hardly a historical juggernaut. In a league where some teams date to the 1940s and 1950s, Kabuscorp only came into existence in 1994 and reached the top Angolan league in 2008.
