After safely securing Yu Darvish for the next six years at a cost of $111.7 million, the Rangers are not likely to be the team that overpays Prince Fielder.
Understandable. As we have learned this offseason, even the Yankees have spending limits, and the Rangers remain a few years away from cashing in on their gold mine of a TV deal. Besides, any team that hands out a reported $60 million contract (plus $10 million in incentives) after forking over a $51.7 million posting fee for someone who never has thrown a pitch in the majors is not exactly frugal.
