Darvish Makes Good 1st Impression

Impressive.

Yu Darvish, the newest Texas Ranger, said all the right things. Shook all the right hands. Bowed to all the right new managers and coaches.

Considering that his head still had to be spinning from a 16-hour plane trip, the 25-year-old from Japan, introduced to the media at the ballpark Friday night, was both impressively glib and unfailingly polite.

As the hour for the credentials-only, introductory news conference neared, dozens of Rangers fans gathered outside the windows of the club's Hall of Fame room for the chance to peek in.

Neil Zucker was home, watching the spectacle live on the MLB Network, when he decided to drive to the ballpark to see the special moment in person.
