Competition at forward is particularly strong, casting doubt for inclusion for some of the stars. The Boston Celtics' Kevin Garnett has gone 14 times in a row; the San Antonio Spurs' Tim Duncan, 13; the Dallas Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki, 10; the Miami Heat's Chris Bosh, six; the New York Knicks' Amar'e Stoudemire, five and the Celtics' Paul Pierce, four.

In the East, the Heat's LeBron James has one of the starting forward spots secured. The Knicks' Carmelo Anthony, who has missed games because of ankle, wrist and thumb injuries, likely will be voted the other forward despite career-low field goal shooting of 39.4%.
