During one of the Q&A sessions at the Giants' annual FanFest on Saturday, a young girl asked Tim Lincecum how he felt when Buster Posey got hurt.

As the loud "Awwww" from the crowd began to subside, Aubrey Huff saw fit to interject:

"There goes the offense," Huff said.

There went the madcap spirit of the club, too. Hard to believe, but those bearded, thong-wearing, fearless freaks who won the World Series in 2010 got so down and out last season that they didn't even dress up the rookies for their annual hazing event in September. None of the veterans bothered to organize it.

The injuries had a lot to do with the teamwide distemper. The Giants used the disabled list 25 times on 21 players -- including seven of nine from their opening-day lineup. Manager Bruce Bochy needed a forest...
