Ohio State coach Thad Matta, a winner at the Kohl Center for the first time in seven trips with the Buckeyes, was beaming.
"I'm happy," Matta said after Ohio State snapped Wisconsin's winning streak at six games with a gritty 58-52 Big Ten victory Saturday afternoon. "It beats the last six times I was here."
UW senior point guard Jordan Taylor, who takes pride in finding ways to lead his team to victory, was somber after committing two critical turnovers in the final 2 1/2 minutes.
"I'm kind of disappointed," Taylor said. "I felt like I could have made more shots, been more aggressive earlier in the second half.
"Nothing you can do about it now."
Except perhaps learn from the six-point loss to the third-ranked Buckeyes, a loss that prevented 19th-ranked UW from taking over first place in the Big Ten.
