Bob Bradley was a history major at Princeton and intrigued by international relations, so part of the appeal of taking over as head coach of the Egyptian national soccer team last September was a chance to live in Cairo and experience another culture.
This week, the former U.S. national coach finds himself in the midst of one of the most volatile spots in the world. Seventy-four people have been reported dead and more than 1,000 injured after a riot following a league soccer match in the northern coastal city of Port Said on Wednesday night. The tragedy left Bradley “deeply moved, very saddened’’ and determined to lend support and help unify Egyptians in any way he can.
