One week after the golfing gods spit on Kyle Stanley and left him in tears, they decided to shine down upon him Sunday like the brilliant sunshine that warmed TPC Scottsdale.
The tears this time were those of joy -- and maybe just a little relief -- after Stanley fired a final-round 6-under 65 and rallied from 8 shots behind Spencer Levin at the start of the day to capture a 1-shot victory over Ben Crane in the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
At the Farmers Insurance Open in La Jolla, Calif., seven days earlier, Stanley led by 7 shots during the final round and by 4 as he stood on the final tee, but he ended up blowing the chance to win his first PGA Tour event.
