His side had just survived its archrival before a rocking house on the night he'd passed Dean Smith on the career list of Division I coaching victories, but no matter. Jim Boeheim was more than a little bit agitated with what his guys had done (or, more precisely, what they hadn’t done) on the boards.
A continuing theme, that.
As such, he wasn’t at all interested in any chirpy banter Wednesday evening. So, when he was asked by a reporter who might have been younger than his skivvies where this particular Syracuse-Georgetown bout rated among all those that had been waged across the years, Boeheim paused for a moment or two as he worked the math in his head.
"Twenty-eighth . . . 30th," he said. "Before you were born, there were 20 better than this."
