It is not easy to let go of an amazing night at Joe Louis Arena on Tuesday. Some morsels are offered here for more savoring perhaps, before the Red Wings play a key divisional rival, the Predators on Friday.
One of the more heartening aspects of what transpired, as the Red Wings set the NHL record for consecutive home victories, is how they began.
In a league in which first goals are critical, the Red Wings overwhelmed the Stars from the get-go.
They hit the ice as if shot from a cannon. Fast upon the Stars, they were both everywhere and the first to get there.
Then, the Red Wings continued to pound, pound, pound the Stars into submission, amid waves of attack. They were literally a shot-on-goal-per-minute in the period.
