Strictly from a football standpoint, TCU took a huge hit Wednesday in the one area where Gary Patterson's program has excelled for years.
Image. Not just the winning image on the field. But image off the field.
For over a decade of growth and prosperity in football, and on the eve of its biggest achievement ever -- membership in the Big 12 -- Patterson has repeatedly been credited for doing it right and doing it scandal free in the areas of recruiting, off-the-field issues and very good graduation results.
That image, combined with success on the field, had put TCU in a lofty category compared to most all of the big-time football programs.
No more. The clean image is gone.
