At NFL Combine, Character Counts

The red flags pop up every time more than 300 draft-eligible players arrive in town for the NFL Scouting Combine.

An otherwise alluring prospect finds his draft stock teetering as NFL personnel types dig through a background that might include a DWI, a drug-related episode, a scuffle at a bar or some other issue that brings character to the forefront.

Janoris Jenkins, one of this year's top-rated cornerbacks, finished his college career at North Alabama. He was dismissed by Florida in the 2010 offseason after -- in his own words -- he "failed one drug test . . . got arrested three times, one for a bar fight and two for possession of marijuana."
