Fourth Place Not Good Enough for Arsenal

That Arsenal could even be in the position to contest third place would have appeared preposterous when they were 2-0 down in the North London derby.

Defeat that day would have given Tottenham a 13-point cushion. After that comeback, and results going their way last weekend, Arsenal went into this weekend just four points behind their rivals. Suddenly the hunt is on.

With momentum gathering, Arsenal are recalibrating their ambitions. Just getting that fourth Champions League spot would have seemed an achievement in the context of their disastrous start to the season.

Now, after beating Spurs and Liverpool and with that heroic effort against Milan in the Champions League, Arsène Wenger has his eye on third place.
