The midfielder, 24, whose heart stopped working for 78 minutes after his collapse at White Hart Lane on March 17, is understood to have had a device fitted at the London Chest Hospital that releases an electrical charge if it detects a heart malfunction similar to the one he suffered.
Muamba, who is now expected to return to his family home in Cheshire, paid tribute to the medics who have overseen his recovery as well as the two men credited with saving his live on the pitch, Dr Andrew Deaner and Dr Sam Mohiddin.
