They remind you, the Rangers do, of a ringer-filled, slow-pitch softball team.
The Rangers' muscle-men crush good pitches, foul off bad ones, take walks when offered because their eyes are like an osprey's, and generally make mayhem of a pitching staff.
Naturally, Justin Verlander beat them Saturday night at Comerica Park, 3-2, which was helpful after a 10-4 bludgeoning the Tigers had endured from the Rangers earlier Saturday, and all after Texas had destroyed them, 10-3, in Thursday's series opener.
"Probably the most aggressive team I've ever seen," said Verlander, refreshed by a postgame shower and in a prize-winning mood after a victory that gave the Tigers a shot at a series split in Sunday's 1:05 p.m. series finale.
