Wait, there was news about Carl Crawford last night? Something about him being out until sometime in June or July with some kind of a bad elbow?
I guess this nugget is worth a headline but, really, is there anybody left following the Red Sox [team stats] or Major League Baseball who is legitimately surprised by one more piece of bad news about Crawford?
We are talking about the active leader for “Worst Free Agent Signing in MLB History” after his worthless — 0.0 WAR — debut last season will be matched in the first half of this season. At an average of $20.3 million per year payable through 2017, Crawford’s seven-year deal is entering historic territory.
