Medical, Mental Testing for Young

Tigers’ outfielder Delmon Young will undergo a psychological and medical evaluation Monday per Major League Baseball rules, Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski said Saturday.

Dombrowski met with reporters for about 15 minutes in the visitors’ dugout at Yankee Stadium before batting practice and said that Young could be cleared to play if he passes the evaluation.

That could technically happen as soon as Tuesday — Dombrowski said the club would get “some type of feedback” on Monday. The club placed Young on the restricted list Saturday and recalled Danny Worth from Toledo to take Young’s spot on the team’s 25-man roster.
