For Bulls fans, it has been a season marked by a litany of injury concerns, starting with reigning league MVP Derrick Rose, who missed 27 games this year with injuries to his toe, back, ankle and groin.
Now, there is more angst—late in the Bulls’ playoff opener, Rose injured his left knee and had to be helped off the court. Hours later, the team released the difficult news: Rose tore his ACL, and will be out for the remainder of the playoffs.
The injury took place with 1:23 to play in the Bulls’ 103-91 win. Rose drove to the basket and came to a jump stop in the lane.
