It is a surefire way to make Ilya Kovalchuk disappear — and no, all you cynical Devils fans out there, it’s not simply dropping the puck to start a playoff game.
Just ask one question and Kovalchuk, who looked like he was skating on cement in the Devils’ 4-3 overtime loss in Game 1 to the Flyers, will flee a room faster than you can say “how many years are left on that contract?”
“Are you healthy?”
That was the inquiry that ended a short interview in the visiting locker room at the Wells Fargo Center, because Kovalchuk made it clear he wasn’t sticking around for follow-ups.
“Yeah,” he said.
Then he was out the door.
