The kid dubbed the “Chosen One,” with the funky hair, the moonshot-producing swing, the bravado and the rocket arm, spent 7,135 days — that’s roughly 19 1/2 years — preparing for his major league debut. And in the five days he has spent in the majors, Bryce Harper has dazzled, displaying all those qualities that made him one of baseball’s most coveted prospect.

Ian Desmond blasted a two-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning on Wednesday night to give the Washington Nationals a 5-4 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, a walk-off shot set up by Harper’s double to lead off the inning.
