The Yankees knew they would someday have to face life without Mariano Rivera. They just weren't counting on that day coming this soon.

The legendary closer suffered a torn ACL in his right knee while shagging fly balls in the outfield during batting practice at Kauffman Stadium Thursday, and was carted off. He will miss the rest of the 2012 season.
