Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan came away from his team’s 2012 rookie minicamp so impressed with quarterback Robert Griffin III that he named the rookie the team’s starter.
“He’s the starter. Period,” Shanahan said Sunday after watching Griffin in five practices over the last three days.
Griffin, whom the Redskins selected with the second overall pick of the draft after giving up first-round picks in 2012, 2013 and 2014 as well as this year’s second-round pick, proved himself a fast learner during his crash course introduction to Washington’s system.
