Going into the weekend series at Los Angeles, the Cardinals were 13-13 in their last 26 games. They've leveled off, getting swept by Atlanta in a three-game series last weekend. The schedule isn't quite as cushy these days; the Cardinals will confront a Dodgers team that has the best record in baseball (50-23) since last Aug. 22.
The lineup has been dinged and damaged by injuries, with slugger Allen Craig and center fielder Jon Jay recent additions to the disabled list. This is Craig's second time on the DL this season. First baseman Lance Berkman was there earlier. Carlos Beltran's right knee flared up, causing him to miss four starts this week. That's a concern. Who knows if Beltran will be able to stay in the lineup?
