Wasn’t it just yesterday that Heat coach Erik Spoelstra was all but out of a job, that he was being berated by Heat star Dwyane Wade, and that he was being vastly outcoached by Boston’s Doc Rivers?
Actually, it was exactly two weeks ago that the Heat trailed Boston, three games to two, in the Eastern Conference finals. From the outside, it seemed to be not only a win-or-go-home situation for Miami, but for Spoelstra as well. Except that, while the Heat would be back on the basketball court next fall even if they lost, Spoelstra would not. The Heat, of course, won the final two games of that series against the Celtics, got to the Finals, and on Thursday night, got a 121-106 blowout win over the Thunder to secure the championship.
