By the end of the week, University of Kentucky men’s basketball coach John Calipari is going to have a new, powerful recruiting pitch. Barring any surprises in Thursday night’s NBA draft, he’ll be able to say that every player who’s been a full-time starter for the Wildcats — and even some who weren’t — in his three seasons at the helm was drafted.
That would be a mind-boggling 15 NBA players in that span. Led by projected No. 1 pick Anthony Davis, the top six players on this year’s NCAA championship team are likely to be selected.
Davis, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Terrence Jones and Marquis Teague are widely expected to go in the first round, and some analysts now think Doron Lamb could sneak into the bottom of the round, which would give the Wildcats five first-rounders to tie the record they set two years...
